Ce Boxster reprend les boucliers du Cayman GT4. L’élément le plus important sur cette déclinaison est le double bossage sur le capot arrière, dans le prolongement des sièges. Le becquet placé entre les feux se déploie au delà de 120 km/h en un aileron qui améliore l’appui au sol.

A savoir, le constructeur a retiré tous les équipements de confort comme la climatisation ou l’autoradio et la capote en toile est manuelle. Des éléments en moins qui font gagner quelques kilos (les amateurs de confort pourront les obtenir sur demande).

A l’intérieur, Plusieurs éléments sont recouverts d’alcantara, dont les accoudoirs, volant, levier de vitesses, entre autres.
Le moteur du Porsche Boxster Spyder
Basé sur le modèle 981 il reprend la philosophie initiée par son aînée de 2010, c’est à dire un gros moteur dans une version allégée du Boxster.
Sous son capot arrière à double bossage évoquant autant le Spyder de 2010 que le 718 Spyder des années 60, le nouveau modèle reprend le six cylindres à plat de 3,8 l de cylindrée du récent Cayman GT4 en lieu et place du 3,4l du Boxster standard. La puissance passe donc de 330 ch à 375 ch (contre 385ch pour la GT4). Le six cylindres 3.8 délivre un couple maxi de 420 Nm entre 4.750 et 6.000 tr/min. Coté transmission, c’est boite manuelle, mécanique 6 rapports. Donc pas de transmission automatique PDK au programme.
Les performances sont toutes proches du Cayman GT4, puisque le 0 à 100 km/h est exécuté en 4,5 s, soit une demi-seconde de moins que le Boxster GTS, et un dixième de plus que le récent Cayman GT4. A noter, ce 0 à 100 km/h est comme le 0 à 100 km/h de la 911 Carrera S 400 ch ! C’est le Boxster de série le plus performant jamais mis au point par Porsche. La vitesse maxi est de 290 km/h.
Concernant le châssis, le travail a porté sur son abaissement de 20 mm. La direction est maintenant plus directe d’environ 10% comparé à celle d’un Boxster GTS. Afin de passer la puissance sur la route, la Porsche Boxster Spyder reçoit en série le différentiel à glissement limité ainsi que le système Porsche Torque Vectorings. Elle hérite des disques et étriers de frein de la grande sœur Porsche 911. Ainsi, la Porsche Boxster Spyder réalise un chrono de 7 min 48 s sur la boucle Nord du Nürburgring, soit 8 secondes de moins que le Boxster GTS, et 8 secondes de plus que le GT4.
Ce Boxster est monté sur des jantes spécifiques 20 pouces, chaussées de pneumatiques 235/35 à l’avant et 265/35 à l’arrière. Deux teintes sont disponibles pour les roues : Platine ou Noir.

The new top model in the open two-seater series retains the independent character of the previous Spyder, which has already attained cult status. For example, the classic fabric roof is still opened and closed by hand, and the sports car is only available with a manual transmission.
As a true original roadster, the Boxster Spyder offers a traditional sports-car driving experience but with contemporary performance. This means a firm sports suspension with a 20-mm lower ride height, brakes taken from the 911 Carrera, more direct steering, and a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine with an output of 276 kW (375 hp). Drivers and passengers can thus look forward to a genuine sports-car experience with outstanding driving dynamics in the lightest yet most powerful Boxster there is. It only takes around 4.5 seconds for the Boxster Spyder to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h; the model’s top speed is 290 km/h. NEDC overall fuel consumption amounts to 9.9 l/100 km.
The distinctive design of the Boxster Spyder includes stylistic elements that recall the legendary sports and race cars from Porsche. For example, as a tribute to the 718 Spyder from the 1960s, the new Boxster Spyder has two prominent streamlined bulges that extend down along the long rear lid behind the headrests. The partially manually operated, lightweight top is suitable for everyday use and brings to mind roadsters from the past, while the fins that stretch back to the rear lend the vehicle’s silhouette its characteristic design. The front and rear end of the model were taken from the Cayman GT4.

More so than in any other Boxster, the interior of the new top model creates an atmosphere that elicits a feeling of pure driving pleasure. The driver and passenger sit in light sports bucket seats with large side supports, while the new steering wheel with a diameter of 360 mm helps ensure the mid-engine roadster can be driven precisely and with great agility.
