Slightly Mad Studios !?
Slightly Mad Studios est un studio de développement de jeux vidéo indépendant basé à Londres en Angleterre. Le studio s’est notamment fait connaitre avec Need for Speed: Shift, en 2009. Il travaille sur ProjeectCARS depuis 2012, et bosse en parallèle sur World of Speed.
Slightly Mad Studios is an independent British video game company headquartered in London, England. On 12 January 2009, the company acquired the business and assets of Blimey! Games. In September 2009, Slightly Mad Studios released Need for Speed: Shift with Electronic Arts.
Currently, Slightly Mad Studios is developing a community-based racing simulator known as Project CARS. This title is being developed using community-based development, pre-alpha testing, and funding, in an attempt to bypass normal publishing costs. This is planned to be the first title of a series of similarly-developed games, and the process will be known as World of Mass Development, or WMD.
Project CARS !?
Project CARS (or Community Assisted Racing Simulator) is an upcoming motorsport simulation video game developed by the British video game developer Slightly Mad Studios. It is scheduled to be released in May 2015 in the US and in Europe.
The finished product is intended to represent a realistic driving simulation. In order to differentiate the game from the established industry leaders, Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, Slightly Mad Studios’ aim is a ‘sandbox’ approach that allows the player to choose between a variety of different motorsports paths and grants immediate access to all included tracks and vehicles. Project CARS will portray racing events spanning multiple days, progressing from shakedown and qualifying runs to the race itself, while changes in weather and lighting conditions are simulated dynamically.
The game adopts an improved version of the Madness engine, which was the basis for the Need for Speed: Shift titles. More processing power available in modern computers allows for the introduction of a dynamic tire model named ‘SETA’, rather than the steady-state model based on lookup tables, as seen in previous generation simulations. To accommodate differing skill levels, Slightly Mad Studios offers gamers (with or without a digital wheel) various driver aids and input filtering methods.
In addition to community feedback, Slightly Mad Studios have acquired the professional services of racing driver and Top Gear’s former ‘Stig’, Ben Collins, (posted in 2014, in French) Clio Cup and European Touring Car Cup racing driver Nicolas Hamilton, and former Formula Renault 3.5L and current ELMS driver Oli Webb.
