Une Mercedes-AMG GT3 a reçu une livrée inédite pour les 24 Heures de Spa qui ont eu lieu fin juillet. Alignée par AMG-Team Black Falcon, livrée réalisé by Linkin Park. Le groupe californien, de rap/hard-rock/electro, est passionné de course automobile, d’art et de design, d’où la déco de la Mercedes qui porte le #00 et qui figure sur l’affiche officielle 24 Heures de Spa. Des membres du groupe étaient présents lors de la course des 24H de Spa, puis au Grand Prix de F1 à Hockenheim. Et si je vous dis que je suis fan de LINKIN PARK depuis de +12 ans, et passionné depuis +20 ans de course automobile, d’art et de design ! ENJOY!

Design de la Mercedes-AMG GT3 livrée by LINKIN PARK
Les 24 Heures de Spa-Francorchamps se ont dérouler du 26 au 31 juillet en Belgique. Mercedes a participer à l’évènement avec huit AMG GT3. Parmi les équipes engagées, on retrouve les teams HTP Motorsport, AKKA ASP et Black Falcon. Ce team, avec les pilotes Maro Engel, Yelmer Buurman, Bernd Schneider, s’est inscrit avec une Mercedes-AMG arborant une livrée imaginée par Linkin Park. Le DJ du groupe, le bassiste et le chanteur étaient présents sur place pour supporter « leur » voiture de course. LINKIN PARK lead chanteur, Chester a eu l’honneur de donner le départ des 24 Heures de Spa 2016.

La livrée se présente avec ses bandes rouges et sa carrosserie couleur argent teintée de reflets sombres et effet miroir.
It turns out Linkin Park are huge fans of AMG, and two of its members, DJ Joe Hahn (Mister Hahn) and guitarist and keyboardist Mike Shinoda, have a design background. Hahn, who is also a visual artist and director of many of the band’s iconic videos, took the lead in the design of the GT3. He chose a red and black color scheme on a silver base, with the Linkin Park logo dominantly displayed on the hood and rear wing.

Mister Hahn was joined by two other members of the band, lead singer Chester Bennington and bassist Dave Farrell aka Phoenix, to help present the car and watch it compete at Spa. They even had the privilege of waving the start flag for the Belgian race and cheered on as their car, with racing number 00, competed in the hands of Black Falcon AMG and its drivers Yelmer Buurman, Maro Engel and Bernd Schneider.

Le Championnat d’Europe FIA GT3 (FIA GT3 European Championship) est un championnat organisé par Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) et régulé par la Fédération internationale de l’automobile (FIA). C’est une série dérivée du FIA GT, mais qui s’adresse principalement aux amateurs, avec des véhicules plus proches des modèles de série. Les pilotes du FIA GT3 n’ont pas le même niveau que ceux du FIA GT. Le terme « gentleman-driver » est communément utilisé pour qualifier les pilotes évoluant dans cette série.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is powered by an optimized AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine. The powerful high-revving naturally aspirated engine with dry-sump lubrication is as user-friendly as it is reliable. The sequential six-speed competition gearbox, mounted at the rear axle, has also been developed further. It is connected with the engine by means of a carbon torque tube, a guarantee for a torsion- and torque-stiff power distribution.

The first outing of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 was sure to face challenges against extreme heat and a starting field of more than 130 vehicles at one of the most demanding circuits in the world, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Leave it up to development drivers Bernd Schneider, Thomas Jäger and Jan Seyffarth to defy odds and provide an impressive demonstration of the potential of their new race car.

Mercedes-AMG recently undertook one of its more unusual partnerships, teaming up with American rock band Linkin Park to design a race car.
The band has previously provided their song Papercut for the debut of AMG’s GT R sports car at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed in late June. The result of the latest collaboration is this AMG GT3, which made its race debut over the weekend in the 2016 Spa 24 Hours, the highlight of the Blancpain GT Series.
It turns out Linkin Park are huge fans of AMG, and two of its members, DJ Joe Hahn and guitarist and keyboardist Mike Shinoda, have a design background. Hahn, who is also a visual artist and director of many of the band’s iconic videos, took the lead in the design of the GT3. He chose a red and black color scheme on a silver base, with the Linkin Park logo dominantly displayed on the hood and rear wing.

The #00 GT3 was one of seven other examples of the AMG race car competing at Spa, but in the end could only finish in 20th position. The overall win went to the #99 BMW M6 GT3 of Rowe Racing driven by Philipp Eng, Maxime Martin, Alexander Sims. Second place went to the #88 AMG GT3 of Team AKKA ASP and drivers Felix Rosenqvist, Tristan Vautier and Renger Van der Zande, while third place went to the #28 Audi R8 LMS of Audi Sport Team WRT and drivers Nico Müller, Rene Rast and Laurens Vanthoor.
The Spa 24 Hours has special significance for AMG. It was in the 1971 race that a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG took home a class win, marking the first motorsport milestone in the firm’s history.
Première at the 24 Hours of Spa Race: For the first time, a Mercedes-AMG GT3 styled by world renown rock band Linkin Park sees action on the racetrack. Three of the band members, Chester Bennington, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn are big car and AMG fans, and did not want to miss the opportunity to personally present the vehicle designed specifically for the motorsport classic in Spa to the crowd of racing enthusiasts. They even had the privilege of waving the start flag in Spa and frenetically cheered on the Mercedes-AMG driven by Yelmer Buurman (NED), Maro Engel (GER) and Bernd Schneider (GER) from the garage of the BLACK FALCON AMG Team. The Linkin Park GT3 is the second joint project as part of the « Two Stages – One Passion » cooperation between Mercedes-AMG and Linkin Park. The band had already contributed their song « Papercut » to the world première of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R in late June, providing the fitting sound for the international campaign.
The design of the Linkin Park GT3 with race number #00 was penned by DJ Joe Hahn, who is also a visual artist and director of many of the band’s iconic videos. The car sports a striking red-black colour scheme on a silver base, with the Linkin Park logo dominantly displayed on the long bonnet, showing the musicians’ enthusiasm for motorsport. The racing suits of the Linkin Park GT3 drivers match the design of the car. Prior to his career as a musician, Hahn together with guitarist and keyboardist, Mike Shinoda studied art and graphic design at the “Art Center College of Design” in Pasadena, California.

Eight Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars in all compete in the 24-hour race on the « Ardennes Roller-Coaster » in Spa-Francorchamps. Apart from three vehicles of the BLACK FALCON Team, the HTP Motorsport Team also has three GT3 cars in the race. The field of AMG cars is rounded off by two vehicles of the French AKKA ASP Team. The 24 Hours of Spa Race is one of the great classics in motorsport. What is more: it also has a historic dimension for the AMG brand. 45 years ago, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG conquered victory in its class and thus set the first motorsport milestone in company history.
